Changes a Chore into just a Quick Step in Getting Ready for the Day5
I hadn't bought a steam iron in fifteen years. I gave mine away before moving to China in 2002 and upon returning to America in 2005 I needed to buy a new one. In the past I would choose an iron based on a nice hefty weight, simplicity, traditional appearance, presence of a safety switch, and a good brand name. I was more than a little confused to find the featherweights with Jetson-like appearances and retractable cords available on the store shelves. Even after reading all of the boxes and comparing the floor-models I just didn't feel confident on the way home with my new purchase.
I have been extremely happy over the past year with my Sunbeam Steam Master Iron. I'm a big steam guy and really like that this model has a huge water tank. No more refilling halfway through the project. The iron heats up very quickly and even though it's very light it stays uniformly hot and has a good substantial feel in my hand. The controls are all at the top of the handle and easily accessible by my thumb while operating. The no stick surface has been great. I had had some bad luck with a no stick surface in the past; but this one has really been great. The only feature that I don't like is the retractable cord; so I fold the cord and stick it through the handle when I'm done using it. The few times that I've become distracted, walked away while ironing and then bolted back into the bedroom expecting to find it ablaze; I've been relieved to see the amber light blinking on the handle telling me that it has shut itself off. All things considered, this has been a great product. Show me one that will iron clothes without me and I'll switch.

finally, a good iron5
i've bought several irons in the last few years, looking for one that actually takes creases out of cloth. when the least worthless finally broke, i read through the reviews here on amazon, crossed my fingers, and ordered.

so far, i really like this iron. i was a bit concerned that it was so lightweight (i know many people complain about a heavy iron, but weight really does make ironing easier and faster), but, once the water tank is filled, the iron has a nice useful heft. there's a good amount of steam on even moderately hot settings; the shot of steam is steam and not a dribble of water; the spray mist covers a good area of cloth. and, most importantly, the iron actually removes creases and wrinkles! even on my linen blends--and does so with only one or two passes! i got my ironing done in half the time it took me with my old iron (a supposedly good brand).

the temperature contol dial being on top of the iron was the deciding factor in my purchase, and it's wonderful. i don't know why there aren't more models designed this way (when i'm especially annoyed with an appliance, i wonder if domestic appliances aren't deliberately designed to be awkward and inefficient because women are more likely to use them--but of course, that's silly). filling the iron is much simpler and faster than any other iron i've owned, since the opening into the tank is large and free of blockages.

even the rather blunt nose hasn't been the problem i thought it might be, it gets into seams and cuffs just fine.

i was prepared to spend much more than i did, which is yet another reason to like this iron.

if you cringe at the idea of spending more than $150 dollars for a good iron (or even $50), you'll love this one.

Good Quality and Features for the Price4
I chose this model to replace my refurbished Rowenta that could not be repaired for less than the price of a new one. The Rowenta had lots of little annoying problems, so I decided to try a different brand, and I'm glad I did. This iron has all the same features as the Rowenta and more, and it doesn't have the problems the Rowenta had. I sew, so I need a powerful steam function and it delivers. The steam reservoir has a large opening that is so easy to fill. I don't know why other models don't have this feature that saves so much time and mess. The retractable cord is nice, and the iron is heavy, which is a plus. Why would you want some lightweight iron that you have to press on to get wrinkles out? This just glides over wrinkles without added effort. This model is every bit as good as the Rowenta for much less money. The only disappointment is that it is not dripless as stated. It drips LESS, but it's not dripless. I'd recommend it, though.
