To set the temperature, you use a numbered dial with a pleasant clicking sound in combination with the printed guide on the iron’s heel rest. For challenging jobs, the iron has a spray function to gently dampen garments and a steam function for extra-stubborn wrinkles. The steam setting is variable to accommodate different fabrics and operates in the horizontal or vertical position. Filling the water reservoir is easy with the included measuring cup, though the plug should be handled with care--its attaching tube is rather fine. For safety and peace of mind, the iron includes power indicator lights and automatic shut-off after one hour. 6 Months and That's It!3
This product only worked for me for 6 months, also!

The cord does not reel in all the way after the 3rd time.

The iron itself worked pretty well for the time that it worked. Since I was within the 1 year warranty, I had to contact the company, send in the cord and pay for shipping and handling for my replacement item. Did that today, so let's see how long it takes for them to send me the new one.

This iron is great. My favorite feature is the retractable cord which is really handy - it wraps up nice and neat inside the bottom of the iron. The burst of steam that you can create is nice for those clothes that you don't want to press. Lastly, the iron beeps when it's plugged in but hasn't been moved after about 10 mins. Very helpful when you're doing multiple things and have forgotten to unplug the iron - it's saved me a few times!

If only the Auto Off would behave4
I purchased the Black and Decker Digital Advantage D1650 when I was searching for the D2030 recommended by Consumer Reports. For the most part, I was happy with the D1650. I have owned several expensive Rowenta models which leaked terribly. The D1650 gave me the heft and comfort of the more expensive irons without the leakage. Unfortunately, the auto off function seems to have a mind of its own. If an ironing session lasts more than an hour, there is no way to stop the iron from turning itself off. I have tried unplugging the iron for several minutes and turning it back on, but after about 3 minutes of ironing, the iron shuts itself off again. There is no way to keep it on. This is not a function of age, the iron has always done this. I have owned this iron about 8 months. I am shopping now for a replacement.

Better than most Ive tried5
I need to iron daily/weekly for my work. Basically Im an iron snob and have used all the brands (except Rowenta, I cant say that), but other quality irons...Tfal, etc. This has been working very strong for half a year now. By this time most start to leak and get fabric stuck on them. This has worked great and the ceramic bottom has worked really well on my clothes without getting things stuck over time. I highly recommend.

Hard to follow a Rowenta3
This iron has some nice features; the lighted dial for heat settings, being able to leave the water in the iron is nice, it`s easy to maneuver. What I miss most is the slippery sole plate the Rowenta had. My Rowenta is more than twenty years old, it was a gem till it started leaking. For the price, the Black and Decker will do just fine
